This is a satirical comedy novel following gay writer Arthur Less while he travels the world on a literary tour as his fiftieth birthday looms.  The book covers themes such as romantic love, relationships, aging, and travel.

March 18 – “A Woman Is No Man” by Etaf Rum    This debut novel by an Arab-American voice takes us inside the lives of conservative Arab women living in America.  In Brooklyn, eighteen-year-old Palestinian Deya is starting to meet with suitors.  Though she doesn’t want to get married, her grandparents give her no choice.  One of 2019 Best Books.

April 15 – “A Thousand Acres” by Jane Smiley
A modern-day telling of King Lear.  Larry Cook is a patriarch of a mid-Western farming dynasty who announces his desire to share the land between his three daughters, precipitating a list of crises that threaten to engulf the family.
May 20 – “Ordinary Grace” by William Kent Krueger
An exceptionally well-written novel of coming-of-age that takes place in a small town in Minnesota during the summer of 1961. This book holds a mystery when one of the five deaths is a murder, but it also speaks of wisdom, secrets, forgiveness, the love of family, faith and miracles.
